The first of three galas in the 2005 Yorkshire age group championships took place at Leeds International Pool with the York youngsters enjoying a successful weekend. Four gold, two silver, two bronze and 23 finalists was the final tally for York City Baths Club swimmers.

Hannah Petts 13yrs was again in fine form as she collected two gold in the 100m butterfly and the 200m breaststroke, bronze in the 200m freestyle and 4th in the 100m freestyle.  Andrew Burns 11yrs took gold in the 200m butterfly and silver in the 200m Individual Medley with both swims being National Age group championships qualifying times. He also finished in 5th place in both the 200m and 400m freestyle. Sophie Glasby 12yrs hit a NAQT as she took gold in the 200m backstroke with a 4th in the 800m freestyle and 7th in the 200m freestyle. Rachel Eastaugh 13yrs finished second in the 100m freestyle, 4th  in the 100m butterfly, 5th in the 200m backstroke, 6th in the 200m freestyle and 7th in the 200m breaststroke. Anna Atkinson-Smith 10yrs took bronze in the 200m butterfly and 4th place in the 200m IM.

York swimmers who made finals were; Tom Jackson 13yrs 5th 200m breaststroke, 7th 100m breaststroke  and 8th 100m butterfly.

Chris Burns 14yrs 6th 100m butterfly, Jennifer Hodgson 10yrs 6th 200 IM and Sophie Edmunds-Allen 11yrs 4th 200m breaststroke.

York swimmers performing personal best times were; Oliver Wilby, Matthew Graham, Alex Fowler, James Wilby, Simon Duston, Norbert Banhidy, Suzy Parrott, Lucie Calpin, Claire Owen, Georgina Hart, Hannah Carty, Rachael Webster, David Recchia, James Rogers, Kirsty Smith, Duncan Rajan, Aaron Perry and Edward Clarkson.
