The
third and final gala of the 2005 Yorkshire age group championships was held at
Ponds Forge Sheffield where all the events were
50metre sprints. The York youngsters were in fine form as they competed
in 33 finals collecting 3 gold, 7 silver and 4 bronze medals.
In
the age group category awards Hannah Petts won the 13yrs ‘top girl award with
Rachel Eastaugh collecting 3rd place in the same age group.
Andrew Burns was in the 11yrs age group category.
Rachel
Eastaugh 13yrs had a successful day collecting a gold, two silver and a bronze.
Her gold came in the backstroke, silver in both the freestyle and breaststroke
with a bronze in the butterfly. Hannah Petts also 13 yrs won gold in the
breaststroke, silver in the butterfly and backstroke with a fourth place in the
freestyle. Chris Burns 14yrs was our other gold medal winner in the breaststroke
with a 5th in the butterfly and 8th in the freestyle. Andrew Burns 11yrs took
silver in the butterfly, bronze in the breaststroke with 4th place freestyle and
8th in the backstroke. Anna Atkinson-Smith 10yrs had a silver in the
breaststroke with 4th, 5th and 7th place finishes in the backstroke, butterfly
and freestyle respectively. Sophie Glasby 12yrs had a silver in the backstroke
with a 7th place in the butterfly. Eddie Clarkson 10yrs took bronze in the
butterfly with a 7th place in the backstroke. Sophie Edmunds-Allen 11yrs picked
up a bronze in the breaststroke.
The
other York finalists were; Jennifer Hodgson 10yrs 4th breaststroke, Claire Owen
10yrs 7th breaststroke and butterfly, Georgina Hart 10yrs 8th butterfly,
Oliver Hicks 9yrs 7th breaststroke, Norbert Banhidy 11yrs 4th backstroke,
Tom Jackson 13yrs 4th butterfly and
6th breaststroke and Bradley Swainston 5th in the backstroke.
Other
York swimmers performing personal best performances were ; Molly Eaton, Suzy
Parrott, Lucie Calpin, Alice Carty, Tom Bartram, James Wilby, Simon Duston,
Xavier Edmunds-Allen, Kirsty Smith, Hannah Carty, Rachael Webster, Oliver Wilby,
Laura Briggs, Hannah Garnett, Tom Eaton, Angus Clark, Aaron Perry and Toby
Clarkson.
