Hull Open

York City Baths Club travelled to Hull at the weekend for the Kingston Upon Hull Age group and Open meet being held at the Ennerdale Leisure centre, the York swimmers had and outstanding and very successful weekend Collecting 12 1st places 20 2nd places and 10 3rd places and a staggering 170 personnel best times this outstanding result earned York City Baths Club the Top Visiting Club.

Andrew Burns was in outstanding form collecting 5 First Places in the 200m IM, 100m Butterfly, Backstroke, Breaststroke and Freestyle in the11yrs age group he also swam in the men’s 200m Butterfly which saw him finish in 7th place, all of Andrew swims were PB times, his top form helped Andrew pick up the Top Boy award in this age group.

Another swimmer in top form was Hannah Petts She collected 3 first places in the 13yrs age group in the 100m Breaststroke, 100m Butterfly 200m IM, 4 2nds in the 100m Freestyle in a PB time and Backstroke and in the women’s events she picked up 2nd in the 100m Butterfly and Breastroke in a PB time and 3rd in the women’s 200m Breastroke, another swimmer in the same age group who had an outstanding weekend was Rachel Eastaugh she picked up 2 1st places in the 100m freestyle in a National Qualifying time and PB time and 100m Backcrawl   2nd in the 100m Butterfly and Breastroke 200 IM all in PB times and the 100m Backcrawl in the women’s event . The other gold medallists were Michelle Moffat in the 14yrs 100m Freestyle in a PB time and in the 11yrs age group Sophie Glasby in the 100m backcrawl, Michelle also collected 2nds in the 200m backcrawl and IM and 100m Freestyle and 3rd in the 100m Butterfly, Sophie got 2nds in the 100m Butterfly and freestyle and 200IM and 3rd in the 100m Breastroke, all of Michelle and Sophie’s swims were all PB swims.

Christopher Burns earned himself a place at the National Championships with a fantastic swim in PB time which qualified him for the championships in the 14yrs 100m Breastroke it helped him collect a 2nd place he also collected 3rd in the 200IM in a PB time.
