Seven
York City Baths Club youngsters travelled to Harrogate Hydro Pool for the
Harrogate Open Distance Meet. They returned with 3 gold, 3 silver, 2 bronze and
18 top eight finishes.
10yr old Anna
Atkinson-Smith was in outstanding form as she stormed to victory in the 200m
Individual Medley, 200m freestyle and 200m breaststroke. Her best swim of the
day however came as she picked up a silver in the 400m Individual Medley
achieving her first National Age Group Qualifying time. Jennifer Hodgson 10yrs
also had a great day collecting two silver in the 200m IM and the 200m
breaststroke, a bronze in the 200m backstroke and a fourth place in the 400m IM.
Claire Owen 10yrs had five top eight finishes collecting bronze in the 200m
breaststroke, fifth in the 200m IM and 400m freestyle, sixth in the 400m IM and
7th in the 200m freestyle.
The YCBC 10yr
old girls took gold silver and bronze in the 200m breaststroke with Lucie Calpin
hitting a PB to take sixth place in the same event. Lucie also hit a PB in the
200m freestyle. Sophie Glasby 12yrs
finished fourth in the 200m backstroke and was very unlucky finishing fifth in
the 800m freestyle. After 32 lengths Sophie was 1/100th of a second
outside her National Age Group qualifying time. She also finished 6th
in the 400m IM. Lucy Recchia 14yrs
hit a PB as she finished eighth in the 800m freestyle.
Rachael Webster hit personal best times in both the 200m freestyle and
200m IM
