Age Group Championships

Harrogate Hydro

The 2005 North Eastern Region Age Group Championships were held at the Harrogate Hydro Pool where 19 of York’s  top 10yrs to 13yrs girls and 10yrs to 14yrs boys had achieved qualifying times in order to compete. They returned with 3 silver, 5 bronze and 27 top 8 finishes.

10yr old Jordan Foster competing in his first NER Championships had an excellent weekend taking silver in both the 100m butterfly and 100m freestyle with a bronze in the 200m freestyle. He also finished 4th in the 200m Individual Medley and 100m breaststroke and was 6th in the 100m backstroke. Sophie Glasby 13yrs hit a National Age Group Championships qualifying time as she took silver in the 200m backstroke. She also took bronze in the 100m backstroke. Andrew Burns 12yrs also hit 4 NAQ times as he picked up bronze in both the 200m butterfly NAQT and the 400m IM NAQT. He also finished 4th 200m breaststroke NAQT, 5th 400m freestyle NAQT and 100m butterfly, 6th 100m breaststroke and 7th 200m IM. Tom Jackson 14yrs collected bronze in the 200m breaststroke, 4th 100m breaststroke and 7th 100m butterfly.

York’s other top eight finishes came from Anna Atkinson-Smith 11yrs 5th 400m IM and 200m breaststroke, 7th 200m butterfly.  James Wilby 11yrs 4th 200m breaststroke and 5th 100m breaststroke. Michael Feetenby 12yrs 5th 100m backstroke and 6th 200m backstroke and Edward Clarkson 11yrs  8th in both the 100m and 200m butterfly.

Personal best performances came from; Suzy Parrott, Oliver Hicks, Claire Owen, Jennifer Hodgson, Hannah Garnett, Sophie Edmonds-Allen, Tom Eaton, Rachael Webster, Kirsty Smith, Bradley Swainston and Oliver Wilby,
