The first two weekends of the 2006 Yorkshire age group championships were held at the Leeds International Pool where York City Baths Club youngsters collected 2 gold, 8 silver and 11 bronze medals. A total of 49 swimmers received awards for finishing in the top eight.

Leading the way was 12year old Andrew Burns who returned with 2 gold, 3 silver, 1 bronze and 4 other top eight finishes. Andrew dominated the butterfly events taking gold in both the 100m and 200m. His silvers came in the 200m breaststroke and both the 200m and 400m individual medley with a bronze in the 400m freestyle in a new National Age Group qualifying time. He also finished 4^th in the 100m breaststroke and 200m freestyle with 6^th place in the 100m freestyle and 200m backstroke.

Jordan Foster 10yrs took silver in the 200m IM and both the 200m and 400m freestyle. He had a bronze in the 200m butterfly and 6^th place in the 200m breaststroke and 200m backstroke.

Anna Atkinson-Smith 11yrs took silver in the 200m breaststroke and 3 bronze in the 100m breaststroke, 200m backstroke and 200m butterfly. She also finished 5^th in the 100m backstroke and 200m IM with 7^th place in the 100m butterfly, 200m freestyle and 400m freestyle.

Sophie Glasby 13yrs had a silver in the 200m backstroke 5^th in the 100m backstroke and 7^th place in both the 200m IM and the gruelling 1500m freestyle.

Tom Jackson 14yrs had 3 bronze in the 100m and 200m breaststroke and the 200m IM, he was also 6^th in the 100m butterfly.

Sophie Edmonds-Allen12yrs had bronze in both the 100m and 200m breaststroke.

9yr old Christian Carty swimming in his first Yorkshire championships collected a bronze in the 200m backstroke.

Other York finalists were;  Anna Ward 9yrs 5^th 200m IM and 7^th 200m freestyle.

Claire Owen 11yrs 6^th 200m butterfly and 7^th 800m freestyle.

Jennifer Hodgson 11yrs 7^th 200m backstroke and 8^th 200m butterfly.

James Wilby 12yrs 4^th 200m breaststroke, Katie Mitchell 10yrs 6^th 400m freestyle, Edward Clarkson 11yrs  7^th 400m IM. Oliver Hicks 10yrs 8^th 200m breaststroke,  Hannah Garnett 12yrs 8^th 200m butterfly, Michael Feetenby 13yrs 8^th 100m backstroke and Oliver Wilby 14yrs 8^th 400m IM.

Other York swimmers performing personal beast times were; Georgia Mellors, Kirsty Smith, Hannah Carty, Tom Eaton, Tom Bartram, Suzy Parrott, Alice Carty, Laura Briggs, Molly Eaton, Simon Duston, Joe Brennen, Sebastian Dobson, Matthew Graham, Rachael Webster, Laura Pitt, Kate Garnett, Kate Morris, Xavier Edmonds-Allen, Aaron Perry and Alex Perry.
